United Methodist Personal Investment Plan (UMPIP)

The United Methodist Personal Investment Plan (UMPIP) is an Internal Revenue Code section 403(b) retirement savings plan for clergy and lay employees of The United Methodist Church and affiliated organizations. The plan is designed to provide participants with one piece of their overall retirement portfolio.

UMPIP is a defined contribution (DC) retirement plan. You may make before-tax and/or after-tax contributions through payroll deductions. Your contributions, any contributions your plan sponsor may make on your behalf and investment earnings comprise your retirement account balance. You may choose to invest your account among the General Board's selection of funds.

Eligibility

You are eligible to make participant contributions to UMPIP if you are an employee of a UMPIP plan sponsor. Your plan sponsor may also make contributions to your account if you meet certain eligibility requirements outlined in your plan sponsor’s adoption agreement.
