Basic Protection Plan (BPP)
The Basic Protection Plan (BPP) provides disability and death benefits for eligible United Methodist clergy, diaconal ministers and lay employees to help protect them and their families.
BPP is an Internal Revenue Code 414(e) "church plan" funded by plan sponsor insurance premiums.
Who is Eligible?
You are eligible to participate in BPP if you are an employee of a BPP plan sponsor and you meet the age and service requirements outlined in your plan sponsor's adoption agreement. Your plan sponsor will enroll you once you are eligible to participate.

- spouses, children and retirees also may be covered depending on the conference or employer agreement

- assistance with application for benefits from Social Security
- monthly disability benefit payments
- lump sum death benefits
