The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits (General Board) and the Center for Health invites you to attend an inaugural event: Renew “U”niversity, February 4-5, 2010, in Bloomington, Minnesota.

At this event, you will:

  • Enjoy a refreshing and rejuvenating two days away.
  • Reflect and assess your spiritual, mental (emotional), physical, social and financial health.
  • Learn techniques that can help you manage stress and relax more.
  • Share with your peers, worship and be motivated to set and keep your self-care covenant

Event Curriculum

Renew “U”niversity classes will use the Self-Care Covenant Workshop curriculum. This curriculum was created by the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund in Hutchinson, Kansas and is licensed and distributed by the General Board.

Guest leaders for each session include: The Reverend Tom Mattick, Desert Southwest Conference; The Reverend Bob Winstead, Candler School of Theology and the North Georgia Conference; Judy Johnston, Kansas University School of Medicine, Wichita, Kansas; Mark Conner, General Board of Pension and Health Benefits and Jean Edin, Conference Benefits Officer, Minnesota Conference.

Keynote Speaker

The closing session of Renew University will inspire, encourage and motivate you! The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits and the Center for Health is pleased to have Lloyd Bachrach with “Yes, You Can!” bring his message about overcoming adversity with 5 keys to success. Event Information

Event check-in and registration begins Thursday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. Renew “U”niversity begins on Thursday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m. and concludes on Friday, February 5 at 3:00 p.m.

Details and Registration

Register today for $99 ($179.00 with spouse).. The registration fee includes breakfast and lunch on Friday, refreshment breaks each day and course materials. (Hotel rooms are available at an additional cost.)

Meals

It is expected that all persons who register will be at all meals provided. Refreshment breaks will be offered throughout the event.

Attire

Casual dress is recommended. Layered clothing is recommended as meeting room temperatures may vary.

The General Board has negotiated group room rates at the event hotel, the Holiday Inn Select. The event will be held on-site at this location. The room rate is $99 plus tax per night.

If you choose to stay onsite, the General Board will make hotel arrangements on your behalf based on the information you provide when registering online.

Transportation

Transportation costs are the responsibility of the attendee.

Daycare Opportunity

The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits does not provide on-site daycare for your little ones. However, we will provide a 50% discount on an additional sleeping room for a child-care provider to come along with you.
