Training Objectives

• To articulate strategies to transform health programs into dynamic and effective ministries
• To identify tools that mobilize people to develop ministries of health
• To name components necessary in advocating for health, healing and wholeness
• To provide an opportunity to experience the "Servant Leadership: A Model for Self-Care" workshop, a private journey of self-assessment in all aspects of health

On-site event registration begins at 3:00p.m. on Sunday, September 21 with opening worship at 5:00p.m. The event ends on Wednesday, September 24 at 11:00a.m.

Plenary Sessions have been planned to be of interest and help to all participants.

Breakout Sessions are based on 4 distinct tracks, each designed to address health ministry at a different level of development. Participants may "mix-and-match" from the first three tracks and attend whichever sessions are of particular interest.

• Congregational Health track focuses on ministry opportunities within the local congregation such as the biblical foundation for health ministry programs, building a wellness team within the church, developing a plan and seeking grant funding.
• Conference Track provides the opportunity to learn and share about successful programs and opportunities, how to train leadership at the conference level and analyzing wellness programs return on investment.
• Parish Nurse and Health Ministers track is geared for the health professionals with programs focused on “caring for the caregivers”, tools for empowering and working with clergy, helping families in crises and much more.

Servant Leadership: A Model for Self-Care. The fourth track of the Breakout Sessions has different parameters. Registration for the workshop will be limited to 40, and attendance restricted to those. Participants in this track will experience a private journey of self assessment in all aspects of health, leaving with a self-care covenant and plan for improvement. Those who register for this track are expected to attend all four sessions. The self-care covenant is not one of the "mix-and-match" options.

Scholarship Information

The GBGM/GBOPHB will fund tuition, lodging, and meals for two designated representatives per Annual Conference. Transportation is not included. Although everyone is invited to register, those planning to apply for the scholarship must obtain concurrence from their Annual Conference – Conference Benefits Officer that they are designated representatives prior to registering.

Annual Conference Representatives

There is a $50 deposit for each registrant on scholarship as an Annual Conference Representative. The deposit will be fully refunded when you attend the conference or if you cancel by 9/1. If you cancel after 9/1 or do not attend, the $50 deposit will not be refunded.

If registering on scholarship, be sure to obtain concurrence from your Annual Conference that you are a designated representative.

The $50 deposit can be paid by check or by credit card if registering online.

All Other Registrants

You can choose either option:

• $325 per person for tuition, food, and lodging. Lodging is based on double occupancy. Single occupancy $22 per night extra.
• $160 per person if only tuition and food is provided—NO lodging required.

Cancellations received by 9/1 will qualify for a full refund. If you cancel after 9/1 or do not attend the conference, a $50 fee will be retained and the remainder of the registration amount refunded.
