|Who We Are
Caring for those who serve since 1908—we are the primary financial institution for long-term savings and retirement support for 91,000 U.S. clergy and lay employees, with a stewardship mission that is more than a century old. In addition, we provide health and welfare plans to United Methodist Church plan sponsors.
The General Board is the largest faith-based pension fund in the United States, with approximately $18 billion in total assets under management—ranking among the top 100 pension plans in the country. We are a socially responsible investor, actively involved in shareholder advocacy, proxy voting, portfolio screening and community investing.
|A Message from our General Secretary
“The General Board has helped secure the retirement futures of clergy and lay workers of The United Methodist Church for over 100 years. Our employees stand on the shoulders of all those who served this organization before them.
“Every day, they apply their individual talents in a variety of ways in the work we do—and their efforts and contributions are valued by thousands of plan participants in the U.S. and around the globe, who are very glad they are here.
“If your career path leads you to the General Board, you will be part of a team that continues a legacy of service that is widely recognized and highly regarded.”
Barbara Boigegrain, General Secretary and Chief Executive
